I’m a UX Designer and Researcher with 10 years of experience in Education and 1 year in Technology. I have a BA in English and French from Skidmore College and I have completed a Full Stack Java Development “bootcamp” and a software project management internship. Working with developers inspired me to learn about design thinking through the Google UX Design Certificate and other resources.
As an educator, I empathized with students and their families, keeping in mind the priorities of our school community. I collected quantitative and qualitative data from my students’ assessments and then responded with redesigned materials and lessons. To ensure that all of my students had the chance to succeed in my class, I had to think like a designer.
As a UX Designer, I ask questions that get to the heart of complex problems. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States, educators were forced to adapt to an entirely new ecosystem for learning. I distilled this unprecedented challenge into one question: “how can technology best empower teachers to create remotely accessible educational content?” I spoke with former colleagues and learned about the digital tools and strategies they used to teach remotely. Student engagement was the fundamental problem for teachers in the remote classroom. I designed an app feature that would enable teachers to create video content for their students to boost engagement and lead to better outcomes in remote learning.
I am looking for a full-time role as a UX Designer on an Edtech product team, where I can craft and refine excellent solutions for real-world problems.
